Membership Information

New class of membership:

Anew class of membership was endorsed at the ICTV AGM held on ThursdayIsland on October 12, 2010.  Associate Membership is now available forindividuals who do not qualify for full membership of ICTV.

ICTV now has two classes of membership: Ordinary Members and Associate Members

As per the ICTV Constitution, an Ordinary Member is defined as:

"Any natural person who is an Indigenous Person who resides in a remote region."

A remote region is understood by ICTV under the ABS qualification of remote and very remote. 

An Indigenous Australian is defined as: 'An Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander is aperson of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent who identifies asan Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and is accepted as such by thecommunity in which he or she lives'. [Commonwealth v Tasmania (1983) 46ALR 625]

For individuals who do not qualify for Ordinary Membership, Associate Membership is now available.  Rights and benefits of Associate Membership include:

The Board has the right to approve or reject membership applications and may form new classes of membership with rights attached to them as they think fit." (ICTV Limited, Constitution 2006)

There is currently no organisational class of membership, however ICTV brokers individual agreements with organisations for which it has an ongoing relationship.

To apply for membership, please complete the form below.  Please note, membership is not automatically granted. All membership applcations are presented at Board Meetings for endorsement.  You will be notified if your membership has been accepted. Under the current constitution the Board does not need to provide a justification for denying membership.
