ICTV Indigenous Community Television Limited

ICTV on DEMAND

ICTV ON DEMAND is a model which aims to deliver video content to remote communities using a satellite based multicasting system.  It is based on a file transfer process which will enable communities with community broadcast licences to access a range of content produced by other remote producers and then to control the local television transmission of this and other content.

ICTV ON DEMAND is an adaptation of a model currently being used by large supermarket chains such as Woolworths in Australia and Tesco in the UK.
The model involves transferring video files to a central location.  From this location the files are sent via satellite to multiple servers in remote communities (RIBS) each night.  The servers are then automated to play out the video files, at full screen resolution each day. The composite video output of the server is connected to local video transmitters, enabling the video to be viewed on the local television channel.  Presently ICTV are developing the model to ascertain if it will meet the needs of remote communities.
